Pathway to Palestine

Our quarterly primary activity is this Saturday, April 24 at the Church. It starts at 3:30 and should run until about 4:45. We will have a "tour" of the Holy Land and "visit" places that He visited and have some fun activites to go along with the tour. Part of the activity involves service. We are asking the children to donate any outgrown, sturdy tennis shoes that are still in good shape. Egan and Linnea Wheeler are going to Haiti in June and have been advised that there is a need for sturdy tennis shoes for the children. Its an easy opportunity for the children to serve.

Upcoming events for February

The Priesthood Preview will be on February 21, 4:30 pm at the Church. This is for all boys who are currently ages 10 and 11. Invitations will be given out later, but please, save this date on your calendar.

Valentine's Day is on a Sunday and the stake primary presidency has challenged us to make it a special day for all the primary aged children. They are calling it "I Love You Day" and the purpose is to let every child within South Weber know that they are loved and that they can give love. One of their suggestions is to have every parent write a little Valentine's Day note to their child. For example, "Hunter, I love you because you are such a great helper" (We need to have the child's name on it so that we can give it to them). We will have paper hearts available for parents to fill out and leave with us on Sunday, January 31 and February 7. PLEASE, PLEASE help us with this - it would be awful if any child was left out!

Getting ready for the new year

We are working on getting classes and teachers matched up, lesson manuals and picture packets put together, calendaring 2010 and planning our annual "Meet your Teacher" party for January. Its a busy time, so why not start a blog too?!

With a new year comes many changes. Most of you probably already know that our ward will be meeting for sacrament meeting at 9am, then have our auxillary meetings.

Class names have changed a little. Junior Primary is still CTR, but the number corresponds to the age the child is at the beginning of the year. So, if your child is 4 on January 1, 2010, they will be in the CTR 4 class. Senior Primary is similar - if your child is 8 years old on January 1, 2010, they will be in the Valiant 8 class. Nursery and Sunbeams remain the same (18 months + and 3 years old).

We hope that everyone has a Merry Christmas and are looking forward to a wonderful new year with our Primary!
